Nutritional problems during cancer therapy

Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell division and the ability of these cells to invade other biological tissue. Cancer cells (mass of abnormal tissue that is malignant) grow directly in the adjacent tissue (invasion) or migrate to distant cells (metastasis).
Uncontrolled growth is caused by DNA damage. Cancer cells will also cause mutations in genes that control vital cell division. Mutations are often caused by chemical or physical agents called carcinogens. Mutations can occur spontaneously (obtained) or inherited (germline mutations). Cancer can cause many different symptoms, depending on the location and character of the malignancy and whether there is metastasis.
